Favorite Restaurants

July 18, 2008

Opal was in a much better mood today, but daycare was still a bit fraught, because she wanted to go back to the next class, but they were having a field trip to the ice cream factory. That naturally was not the sort of thing one could visit for (note that Opal has been on that field trip with her class -- it's a natural thing to do if you have an ice cream factory a block away, which they do). She informed me that she wasn't going anywhere with me until I was behaving like a real mommy. Apparently, real mommies always say "Yes". This is some definition of "real" I'm not familiar with.

Paul was busy disassembling computers, so Opal and I went to dinner at what she assured me was her very favorite restaurant ever. This is ever-changing, her favorite is the one we're eating at.

Opal says: I liked yesterday, because I went to the Unicorns. I played with the Unicorns. I ate my lunch in the Unicorns. (That turned out to be Thursday. Revised theory.) I liked yesterday because I went out to dinner. I liked the pickles. (Me: We didn't have any pickles!) I mean I liked the hotdog. (Me: We went to Armadillo Willy's. They don't have hotdogs.) Ooops. I liked the hamburger because I got to eat the rolls that they have. (Those would be onion rings. She also ate barbecue sauce, mostly by dipping a toothpick in it, but when I said she could have three more dips, she contemplated the toothpick, cast it aside, and dipped her finger instead.)

Read to Opal yesterday: Arthur Goes to Camp, The Cat Gets Carried Away, finished Faradawn, Patch's London Adventure.
