If You Keep Feeding Them

Aug 18, 2010

Opal got up this morning and decided to wear a dog T-shirt with dog leggings. Alas, the dog leggings were impossible to put on fully; they turned out to be size 5, and even leggings have a size limit. Next pants; jeans in a size 6. (The child is 6 and a half.) It was possible to put the jeans on, although it was not easy for her to do them up. Plus, it's fortunate that she thinks showing more of her socks is a good thing; the manufacturer intended those pants to come down rather farther than they do. I offered to look for a third pair, but she said she thought she'd wear the jeans one last time.

Fortunately it's a big purple year and clothes we can all agree on are easy to come by. Unfortunately Opal has now gotten old enough to be attached to her clothes and sad when she finally outgrows them. Plus skinny thighs are currently fashionable in jeans (yes, in size 7!) and it's tricky to find jeans that are loose enough in the thigh but not going to fall off her waist. She likes leggings, but she also likes to have a pair or so of jeans.
