Opal Returns
July 15, 2008
Still cranky, still rashy, but not quite so much of either and certified non-contagious, Opal returned to school, where she showed off her shots. Everybody assumed they were her kindergarten shots (next year!) which I can only hope she will have forgotten about by the time we actually get to the kindergarten shots.
We went to see Jane, and took her some flowers. Now, I'd been hoping to go on Sunday, and take her some real flowers, from, you know, a florist. Or at least the flower seller at the market. But we didn't get there, and what we brought her were fallen flowers from a silk tree, but at least Opal was genuinely enthusiastic about them. Then the cranky reasserted itself, and we left inelegantly.
Opal managed to read both a truck ("Thank you for driving safely") and a postcard from Henry ("This is a mad robot"). She claims she couldn't read the postcard, but what she means is she couldn't read all of our address.
Read to Opal today: More Travels of Thelonius (Arnold admired the idea of a character named Thelonius Chipmunk -- Opal does too, but for different reasons), and more Ozma of Oz.
The Running Book Count: 444 + 23 (last year 1886 + 2)
