Silly
July 16, 2008
Opal is feeling very rule-bound these days, and if she doesn't think something is as it should be, it's silly. Things that are silly: Girls marrying girls ("But Cat and Christine got married." "Well, I like them, but it's still silly.") Palm trees near us ("Palm trees are supposed to be in the desert! Not in California!") The idea that we all get older at the same rate, to wit, one day approximately every 24 hours ("You're getting older, I'm getting newer. And bigger.")
This just bemuses me, but Paul loathes "Silly Daddy!" particularly when he's said something unexceptional and correct. So we're working on not calling people silly.
Read to Opal today: More Ozma of Oz, more Travels of Thelonius, Lyle Finds His Mother and some of volume 1 of Transmetropolitan (which is not, even vaguely, appropriate but Paul was reading it and Opal was curious.)
The Running Book Count: 445 + 23 (last year 1886 + 2)
