Silly Mama
July 21, 2008
I am remarkably clumsy these days. Yesterday, there was a swing-pushing incident. I think Opal's summary is surprisingly accurate: "You whacked your face with my head! Silly Mama!" Yes, she leaned back, I leaned forward, and I got the back of her skull smack into my cheekbone at a good clip and saw stars. Fortunately the bruise is fairly well hidden by my glasses. Today, I did a really bad job of washing a knife. The resulting scratches are quite small, but then I sliced a lemon. Ow.
I made tuna fish casserole for dinner, and Opal didn't like it. Unfortunately, it involved the pasta she had picked out, so she was devastated to discover she didn't like it, and had to go lie down and howl for a while. Poor thing. At least there was chocolate ice cream for dessert, which got us an explanation of how at school they say you should eat only a tiny bit of light chocolate, but dark chocolate is good for you. (School is a chocolate-free zone. I don't think that was an official part of the curriculum.) Fortunately, we had dark chocolate ice cream (an assortment of them actually, from Trader Joe's. Yummy, and the single-serving containers mean that we can all share one and feel happy about getting ice cream without over eating.)
Read to Opal today: Lots of chapters of The Tin Woodman of Oz.
